Siauliai is the fifth largest metropolitan area in Lithuania. Most Lithuanians hold the city to be the unofficial capital of the north. The city has one international airport, the Siauliai International Airport, which serves both international and domestic flights for the region. The city is a cultural hub boasting over 12 museums. The most interesting museums include the Bicycle Museum, Aušros alėjos Palace, and Jovaro the poet’s memorial house. These can all be found with car rental at Siauliai. The city also has an amphitheatre.

Sports are big in Siauliai including soccer, which the city began being active in 1924, basketball, rugby, boxing, cycling, and many others. Local games can be seen at the stadium. In 1936 the city boasted 14 different soccer teams. In 2007, the city was host to the European basketball championships.

Siauliai boasts 16 parks for outdoor entertainment which offer cycling, hiking, jogging trails, and play equipment for children. Sports courts can also be accessed. Also available in Siauliai is a 1.5 kilometer pedestrian street which occupies parts of Vilnius street. The walking street is a great place for local cuisine, entertainment, and for strolling around the town.
